Hello! I'm a bit stuck here.

A coin is flicked into the air from a height of 1.5m. It reaches a max height of 3m and then falls to the ground.

With what speed is it flicked into the air?
For how long is it in the air?

A netball post is 3.03 m high. You try to throw a ball into the post from directly beneath the ring. The ball leaves your hand at a height of 1.4m and just touches the ring. How fast are you able to throw the ball?

1--From h = Vot + 4.9t^2, the time to reach the groumd from its maximum height of 3 meters is
3 = 0(t) + 4.9t^2 making t = .782 sec.
2--The time it took to reach its starting height of 1.5 meters from its mximum height is
1.5 = 0(t) + 4.9t^2 making tmaking t =.553 sec., the same time it took to reach its maximum height from 1.5m high given the 2..709m/s upward speed.
3--Therefore. its starting speed from 1.5m hight derives from
Vf = Vo - 4.9t or Vf == 0 -4.9t making Vf = 0 - 4.9(.553) = 2.709m/s

The coin is given a 2.709m/s upward speed from 1.5m height and is in the air 1.735 sec. (.553s up and .7823s down.)
