Ft² to m² conversion problem

Good Day to all!

I am having a mental blockage today at work and i need some help working out a small problem....

My Customer wants 128 x 2ft by 2ft tiles to cover an area, i can only provide 1m² tiles - how many m² square tiles do i need for the same area?

Any help would be greatly appreciated :)

Ok, I think i have this, but would love confirmation of my workings...

128 x 2ft (tiles size) = 256ft
Square root 256ft = 16ft
16ft = 4.8768m
4.8768² = 23.783
So i would need 24 x 1m² tiles to cover the same area

Or have i got this horribly wrong?

You are saying you need 128 tiles each 2ft x 2ft.

You can cut only one 2ft x 2 ft tile from one 1m x 1m tiles - rest of it is wasted.

So you need 128 tiles to get 128 tiles!

I don't need to cut the tiles to 2ft², i need offer the total area equivalent in m² :)

Apologies, reading my original post i can see why you came up with that (explaining stuff has never been my strong point.....)

To confirm, i need the equivalent of 128 x 2ft² tiles area, using 1m² tiles

ok, i believe my workings above are out by a half as i did not convert the 2ft by 2ft tiles to square foot at the start

So...

1 x (2ft x 2ft) tile = 4ft²
128 tiles @ 4ft² = 512ft² total area required to cover
512ft² = 47.6m²

So 48 x 1m² tiles are required to cover the equivalent of 128 x (2' x 2') tiles

Just would love someone better at this than me to confirm though ;)
