Hey I need help on this question:

Two segments, AB and CD intersect at E. If the measure of angle AEC=36-2x and measure of angle DEB=x^2+3x, find measure of AEC,AED,DEB, and BEC.

So far I have:
36-2x=x^2+3X
+2x +2x

36=x^2+5x
-36 +36
0=x^2+5X+36

x^2+5x+36=0
(x-4)=0 (x+9)=0
x-4=0 x+9=0
x=4 x=-9

I dont know which x value im supposeed to use and plug into the equations to get the angles measurements please help.

0=x^2+5X+36 ===> WRONG! Should be x² + 5x - 36

x^2+5x+36=0
(x-4)=0 (x+9)=0 ===> CORRECT, even though you still say +36 the line above. Hmmm.
x-4=0 x+9=0
x=4 x=-9

I dont know which x value im supposeed to use and plug into the equations to get the angles measurements please help.

Check both values of x. If they both work, then you have multiple answers for what the angles could be.

Thanks i must have typed +36 instead of -36 i solved it using the -36....so it wont matter which x value i use?
