Hello, i was wondering if any1 could please help me with this problem.

A mid-segment of a triangle divides the triangle into a triangle and a trapezoid. If the original triangle has an area of 64 meters-squared, then what is the area of the trapezoid.

No picture on the problem
If someone could tell me the first and second step, i would be happy.

Thanks,
Shujah

P.S i am very confused
ITS my last problem! ITS DUE TOMORROW!!!!! PLEASE HELP

Relax, buddy! There's only volunteers here...and we sometimes wander away...like to work...ok with you?

Original triangle: area = bh/2 = 64 [area of triangle = base * height / 2]

Mid-segment line creates triangle with base = b/2 and height = h/2.
So area of this triangle = [b/2 * h/2] / 2 = bh/8

Since bh/2 = 64, then bh/8 = ?

bh/8 = 16?

would i just divide 128/8?

Sorry about my large text. THx for the help
