The points on the line are
a= -9
e= 1
AE = ?
|-9-1| = |-10| or 10 correct?

carrying this same principle--
if U is between T & B on a line
TU = 2x
UB = 3x+1
TB = 21
Find x & TU

2x - 3x + 1 = 21
-x = 20 or x = |-20| = x = 20
TU = 20 x 2 = 40

Are we correct?

This "same principle" does not apply, in the next exercise, because we're not given the endpoints T and B.

if U is between T & B on a line
TU = 2x
UB = 3x+1
TB = 21
Find x & TU

2x - 3x + 1 = 21 … Nope.

TB is the sum of TU and UB, so add 2x to 3x + 1, instead.

You should find that x =4 and TU = 8.
