for the first question it should be, What is the total area of this property?
To do this I just need to find all the area of the property and add them up. I can find the area of the three flower garden which is pi times the radius square. The area of the shed is 8x12. I dont know how to find the area of the deck, house and garage and driveway. Also, would the hedges count as property as well.

Question 2: I got the total area of the yard is 15000. (150x100)

Question 3: When I get the total area of all the property, I subtract that from that total area of the yard which is 15000.

Question 4: The better buy would be the 15,000 square feet.

This question ("What is the total area of the yard?") is where you would multiply the exterior length by the exterior width.

Question 2: I got the total area of the yard is 15000. (150x100)
This question ("What is the total area that is covered by...?") is where you would add up the areas of all the listed items.

Note: The area of the rectangular deck is found by plugging the listed values into the formula for the area of a rectangle.

Question 3: When I get the total area of all the property, I subtract that from that total area of the yard which is 15000.
If you mean that you'll add up the various footprints (of the house, the shed, the hedgerows, etc) and subtract from the total area of the lot, then your method is correct.

Question 4: The better buy would be the 15,000 square feet.
If your instructor asks you, "Why?", what would be your response? (I am not saying that you're wrong!) ;)
