Can someone please explain to me how to write an equation of a parallel line when it gives you the points and an equation?
Much appreciated.

Please state exactly what the problem says! It makes no sense to talk about "a parallel line" because "parallel" is a relation between two lines. Second, it doesn't help to say "it gives you the points and an equation" without saying what points and what equation.

write an equation of a parallel line when [given] the points and an equation?

They gave you more than one point?

Usually, the equation is the given line, and some line parallel to it passes through a given point.

If this is your case, first use the equation to calculate the given line's slope. All parallel lines share the same slope.

Next, use the Point-Slope formula to write the equation for the requested line. We use this formula when we know a line's slope and one point through which it passes.

Please show your work, if you would like more help. Or, ask a specific question. Cheers
