in a sale the price of a microwave is reduced by 1/5. The sale price if £96.

The problem
'in a sale the price of a microwave is reduced by 1/5. The sale price if £96. What is the price of the microwave before the sale?'

My solution and approach :
96/5=19.2+96= 115.2 (wrong answer)

correct answer is 120, but I just don't understand how they got to that, anyone feel free to enlighten me as to how, would be very much and kindly appreciated.

If the original price was £5 the sale price would be £4 (original price = 5/4 * sale price)

continue....

If the price is reduced by 1/5, then you are paying 4/5 of the original price.

So if x is the original price, then 4/5 * x = 96. That's the equation you have to solve.
