Hello, AbhiKap Here.

I really need help on this problem:

What is the slope of the line: -7x - 6y = 7 - y?

Can anyone help me and please explain?

Thanks, Help is greatly appreciated.

Do you know slope intercept form?

What is it?

Can you convert the above equation into slope intercept form?

ok I do believe that slope intercept form is: y=mx+b. Converting that into this form: I have no idea how to do that. Can you help me?

Thanks, Help is greatly appreciated.

If you were asked to solve \(\displaystyle 4x + 3 = x + 9\), how would you do it?

You would isolate x on the left side of the equation: \(\displaystyle 4x - x = 9 - 3 \implies 3x = 6.\)

Then you would simplify: \(\displaystyle \dfrac{3x}{3} = \dfrac{6}{3} \implies x = 2.\)

You do the same thing when you want to transform an equation in x and y into the form of y = something in terms of x.

First isolate y on the left hand side of the equation. What do you get?

Now simplify. What do you get?

You should have something now in the form of y = mx + b. Is m or is b the slope?

Converting that into this form: I have no idea how to do that.

Slope-Intercept form has symbol y on one side and everything else on the other side.

Solve the given equation for y. In other words, isolate y on one side.

Your function is of the form

Ax + By = C

to convert it to slope-intercept form:

By = - Ax + C

y = (-A/B) x + (C/B)
