Hello.. could someone please help me create a math formula to calculate H2 in the attached geometric image? H1 and L2 are the only lengths known. The angles y are not known.

The graphic shows something along these lines:

Code:
graphic:

| \
|H1 \
| y \ L2
*-----------*-----------*
 L1=1015*L2   \ y       |
                \ |
                  \ H2|
                    \ |
                      \ |
                        *
I've guessed as to the text under the left-hand side of the horizontal line, showing it as being the product of the right-hand side and 1,015.

Since the angles y are the same, then clearly the line from the top left to the bottom right is to be assumed to be straight, as is the horizontal line, so the angles y are vertical. Assuming that the lines H1 and H2 are vertical, the two resulting triangles are right.

Given what you know about right triangles and similar triangles, what proportions can you create?

Please reply with your efforts so far. Thank you! ;)

Ok.. so if H1 / (1015*L2) = H2 / L2

then H2 = L2*(H1/(1015*L2)) ???

Is this correct?
