Order = Length (Abstract Algebra)

I have noticed a pattern that the order of a group is equal to its lengh. But i am looking at several different texts and there is no proof for this anywhere. Is there any way to prove this?

What in the world is the length of a group?
Do you mean the cardinality of the set elements?
If so that is the definition of the order of a group!
Please tell us what you mean by length.
