Problem #1--One of two complementary angles is 6 less than twice the other angle. Find the measure of each angle.
Problem #2--One of the angles of a triangle has a measure of 40 degrees. Find the measures of the other two angles if the difference of their measures is 10 degrees

#1 you know complimentary angles = 90?

so, if one angle is 6 less that twice the other angle, how do you say that in math?

One way to approach this is to say that there are 2 angles labeled A and B. How does A relate to B mathematically?

you will first say that

A + B = 90

#2 You know that the three interior angles of any triangle add up to 180 degrees, yes?

They told you that one angle is 40 degrees, so the other two unknown angles must add up to 140 degrees, yes?

They told you that one of the unknown angles is 10 degrees larger than the other unknown angle.

Let x = one unknown angle

Then x + 10 = the other unknown angle.

Their sum is 140.

x + x + 10 = 140

Solve for x, and you've got the measure of one angle. Add 10 to get the measure of the other.
