I think the web sit Denis suggested is fascinating!

If you think of the line as being from vertex to midppoint, it is 2:1.
If you think of it as being drawn from midpoint to vertex, it is 1:2.

I don't know any real reason to select one over the other, but "2:1" seems to flow more trippingly o'er the tongue.
