A D B

AD = 2x+11
DB = 4x-5

Find AB and x
AB = 2x+11 + 4x-5 or AB =6x+ 6

We are stuck on the equation to find x

All I can tell from your "picture" is that D is between A and B. Since your subject line says "segments and bisectors," I wonder if you are GIVEN the infomation that D bisects segment AB.

If that's the case, remember that a bisector of a segment divides the segment into two parts of equal length.

If D bisects segment AB (or is the midpoint of AB), then AD = DB and that is the foundation of your equation.

If AD = DB, then
2x + 11 = 4x - 5

You can solve that for x.

And once you know the value of x, you can find AD and DB. And, AD + DB = AB.
