In what context, you are concerned with slopes greater than one?
Please give us an example - the answer to your question will depend on the "context" of the question. In engineering/physics problem, we are often concerned with the absolute value of the slope (e.g. something rolling/sliding down hill).
I just have a graph with 5 lines and the qestion is: Do any of the lines have a slope greater than 1? If so which ones? The slopes are 40/3, 10/9, 10/3, -25/3, and -80/11.
In this case, in the absence of any other clue, I would think these are referring to values of the slopes - hence negative slope is less than zero (strictly my opinion - refer to your class notes and text-book)
