Solve -2(-2x + 1) - x + 2 - 3x = -(x + 1) +x

The first step would be to get rid of the parentheses and to combine "like" terms. How far have you gotten in that process?

Please show all of your steps. Thank you.

-2(-2x+1)-x+2-3x=-(x+1)+x

4x+2-x+2-3x=-x+1+x
4x-x-3x+2+2=-x+x+1
0+4=0+1
4=1 ...............X=? :cry:

-2(-2x+1)-x+2-3x=-(x+1)+x

4x-2-x+2-3x=-x-1+x
4x-x-3x-2+2=-x+x-1
0-2+2=0-1
0=-1 ....x=????

Does zero ever equal negative one? Is there any value of "x" which could possibly make this statement true?
