In a recent survey, 250 respondents were asked how many hours of television they watched each week. In addition, data were collected on the highest level of education attained by the individual. The data are summarized in the table below.

Answer:

H0 : There is no association between the level of education and television habits

H1 : There is an association between the level of education and television habits

α = 0.05

df= ( r-1) × (c-1) = (3-1) ×(3-1)

df = 4,x2 4,0.05 = 9.49, X2 =∑∑(Oij − Eij )2/Eij =9.80

We reject H0 at α = 0.05 and conclude that the data are statistically significant to believe that there is an association between the level of education and television habits
