Need some help wit dis

Hi!

You aren't seriously expecting us to do these problems for you, right??

Dividing by a fraction is the same thing as multiplying by the reciprocal (flip) of the fraction. The rule is this:

Code:
  a c a d
 --- divided by --- = ----- X -----
  b d b c

Leave the first fraction alone. Change the division to multiplication. "Flip" or invert the second fraction. Then, do the multiplication.

Here are a couple of sample problems:

Code:
  2 1 2 6
---- divided by ---- = ---- X ---
  3 6 3 1

Now, multiply the fractions:

2 X 6
------
3 X 1

You can divide both numerator and denominator by 3:

2 X 2
------ = 4
1 X 1

For mixed numbers, start by changing them to fractions:

3 1/2 divided by 1 2/3

  7 5 7 3
--- divided by --- = --- X ----
 2 3 2 5

Then multiply the fractions.

7 X 3
------
2 X 5

Since the numerator and denominator cannot be divided by the same thing, this fraction is already in lowest terms. Complete the multiplication:
 21
----
10

You may wish to change this to a mixed number: 2 1/10

Ok.....ALL of your problems are just like these. Do them yourself. If you get stuck on one, post JUST THAT PROBLEM and SHOW US WHAT YOU TRIED to solve it.

We don't DO your homework here.....we try to help you see how to do the work yourself.

I hope this helps you.

I left this ONE post of a total of 8 just like it. This gives me an opportunity to say, "Here's a plan. Never do that again."

We will gladly help you with a specific problem or two. Pick out your favorite problem statement and we can talk.

 There were seven more of these?!?

Must be about time for school to be back in session. They've had two weeks or so to do their homework, and now they're going to be mad at (most of) us for not "helping" by providing completed homework solutions.

I wonder how long it'll be before we see our first "give me your fax number, so you can write it up and fax it back to me 2nite" post...?

That's why I said "most of us"....

I expect that Soroban is going to be very busy over the next day or so: a lot of two-week projects, sent home last month to be done over the holiday break, are going to be coming due in the next forty-eight hours or so.

Saddle up!

Never! I wish I could've seen the look on your face when you saw that 7 more problems like this, that you posted, were all deleted. Don't ever tell anyone here to "shaddup" again, OK? We don't need nor do we want to see people like you frequent this board ever again, G-unit!

G-unit, your computer-ID-number has been forwarded to The Internet Detectives;
they should be in touch with you sometime this week.
If you are lucky, you may get away with a $1,000 fine.
